The Virtuoso Life

Where we’re headed next.

When we heard about Australia’s long-awaited reopening to vaccinated travelers this month, we instantly began craving an outback adventure. In a recent Instagram survey, 69 percent of Virtuoso travelers said they were looking for outdoor adventures in 2022. As borders reopen and international travel picks up, we’re looking farther afield for the next big trip – following our internal compasses to the world’s remote corners, chasing adventure and passport stamps. Cruise News: Brand New Ship Setting Sail

•  Speaking of new ships, Virgin Voyages’ Valiant Lady is just a few weeks away from a maiden voyage. Among its many standout features: the graceful mermaid painted on the bow by artist Hillary Wilson.
•  Two podcasts to add to your queue: The Better Travel Podcast, hosted by NYT contributor Paige McClanahan, features interviews with historians, tourism executives, and writers about meaningful cultural exchanges and supporting the destinations we visit. On The Thoughtful Travel Podcast, travel blogger Amanda Kendle discusses everything from conscious business travel to accents (hers is Australian) and LGBTQIA experiences.
•  If you’ve been to a European café lately, you may already know the next big trend in nondairy milk: Potato milk. While we have yet to see it stateside, the sustainable spud-based alternative is in UK grocery aisles now, meaning the U.S. can’t be far behind. Café au Lay’s, anyone?
